From Heather LaGarde:
This is the 20th year of Saturdays in Saxapahaw, a free, summer-long festival with amazing local bands, a farmers and artisan market, slip-n-slide, giant bubbles, food trucks, and arts and crafts running every Saturday throughout the summer, open to all! Now more than ever, people need to gather together in community, and for 20 years, every Saturday from May through August people come to Saxapahaw, set down a picnic blanket, take a deep breath and settle in to enjoy a great summer's eve down by the riverside. 20 years of free events, great music, food, dancing, drink and fun! Over 20 years we will have hosted 360 bands on our little haywagon stage, we estimate that about a quarter of a million people have sung and smiled on the hillside, we've had 700 food truck visits, thousands of muddy kids have zoomed down that slip-n-slide, and hundreds of thousands of big bubbles, and rogue hula hoops have spun through the crowds.
We try to cover costs thru vendor fees, trades & sponsors but we need your help to make it! A lot of coordination goes into planning Saturdays in Saxapahaw and the lead organizers are volunteers, but as the summer festival has grown so have our needs for staff, equipment, insurance, supplies, crossing guards, market managers, sound engineers, kids area staff, portopotties, sanitations stations, maintenance, trash collection, outreach, signage etc! We are dedicated to keeping Saturdays in Saxapahaw a free and open summer gathering for all but we sure could use your help to close the gap. Please give what you can and thank you!
